Article II Section 1 of the 1987 Philippine Constitution states that “The Philippines is a democratic and Republican State. Sovereignty resides in the people and all government authority emanates from them.” For years, people have been forming governments to efficiently manage themselves. Leaders, ranging from the highest to the lowest positions, were, then, chosen by the people at large, and were characterized as their servants rather than their masters. The time has now come, with only less than five months until the national elections, providing us 𝐚 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐣𝐨𝐛 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐝𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬.
Let us heed the call on 𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟏𝟐 to defend our freedom to form, and define our own government's jurisdiction and powers. Let us all act reasonably, promote, and 𝑡𝑎𝑘𝑒 𝑎𝑛 𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑣𝑒 𝑟𝑜𝑙𝑒 𝑖𝑛 𝑠𝑜𝑐𝑖𝑒𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑑𝑖𝑠𝑐𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑠𝑒𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑢𝑚𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑎𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑠𝑡 𝑢𝑠 𝑖𝑛 𝑠𝑐𝑟𝑢𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑖𝑧𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑠𝑒𝑙𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑏𝑒𝑠𝑡 𝑐𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑖𝑑𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑠 for each elective position.
