Defend PUP

𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭

Yesterday, November 24, at around 8:30 PM, the CPSPA SC thru the Student’s Rights and Welfare Committee received a number of messages from freshmen students expressing their concerns on an invitation sent in the official group chat of all representatives of freshmen students from the NSTP office to join the Regional Youth Forum organized by the National Youth Commission (NYC) and the infamous NTF-ELCAC and HOOCM.

The NTF-ELCAC and HOOCM are known to incessantly and blatantly attack and redtag progressive groups and students. Several student councils and organizations were alarmed by the same concerns and have expressed their dismay at the blatant desire of these notorious organizations to enter, even virtually, our Sintang Paaralan. With the collective effort of the freshmen representatives who questioned and resisted this approved forum, together with a responsive NSTP representative, the Iskolars ng Bayan hailed the retraction of NSTP on its decision to participate in this event.

Although we favor the responsiveness and immediate action done by the NSTP office in this matter, these organizations, which are known for harassing and red-tagging some of our students, should not be catered, entertained, and given any platform to advance their agenda. With this, we are challenging, not only the NSTP but every organization, college, institution, and the PUP administration to not let this happen again and take a firm stand on protecting the welfare of every Iskolar ng Bayan against oppressive attacks.

We call on the entire PUP Community, its students, professors, and administrators to continuously be alert and to finally put a stop to this state-sponsored propaganda against dissent. For the students, people, and country, we always remain.
