The College of Political Science and Public Administration Student Council joins the United Nations for its calls and initiatives centered on recovery, a more equitable and peaceful world.

The 24th day of October is celebrated each year as the United Nations Day since its first establishment into force in 1945. This commemoration provides a platform to highlight and promote the purposes and principles of the UN. This day is also dedicated for the solidification of the ideals of peace with the observance of 24 hours of non-violence and ceasefire. It can be remembered that after the 2nd World War, the international organization was founded with the goal of ensuring the observance of international peace and security, promotion of relations among countries for social progress, better standards of living and human rights.

This year, as the world gradually heals from the devastations brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, the United Nations is committed to collectively address the surrounding issues and help nations recover, thus the theme โ€œRecovering better for an equitable and sustainable worldโ€ was conceived. With the whole world suffering from the detrimental effects of the pandemic, the UN Secretary General highlights the need for a sustained humanitarian pause to local conflicts. Recovery cannot advance with continuous armed conflict and the absence of peace in both local and international level. Vaccination efforts along with other initiatives for the health crisis, inequality and poverty, and growing climate emergency can be tackled efficiently by working in solidarity, and sustained peace.

In the face of global pandemic, we are holding the government accountable to provide us with concrete and sustainable measures for our dream of a return to normal life and nation recovery. This year, as we collectively fight with honor for the students, people, and the country, the CPSPA scholars stand up against any form of hate and discrimination in all settings concerned. We are amplifying our voice and campaigns both online and offline for the rights and welfare of the students and people, especially the marginalized communities.

Today, we celebrate peace by demanding accountability, scientific and data driven response from the government in handling this pandemic. Today, we are calling for unity from the students, people, and the country as we campaign and move for peace and prosperity.

For nation recovery, an equitable and sustainable world, we remain.
